Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 9, 2025
PageHawk does not collect, store, transmit, or share any data about you or the pages you visit. All analysis runs locally in your browser. There are no servers, no analytics, no tracking.
1. Who we are
PageHawk is a Chrome browser extension developed and maintained by Numerbyte. This Privacy Policy explains our data practices in relation to the PageHawk Chrome extension and the PageHawk website (pagehawk.io).
2. What data we collect
Chrome Extension
The PageHawk extension collects no data whatsoever.
- We do not collect browsing history.
- We do not collect personal information.
- We do not collect the content of pages you visit.
- We do not collect usage analytics or telemetry.
- We do not store any information on remote servers.
The extension uses chrome.storage.local and chrome.storage.session exclusively to persist your settings (e.g. display preferences) and cache per-tab analysis snapshots. This data never leaves your device and is cleared automatically when you close Chrome.
Website (pagehawk.io)
When you visit the PageHawk website, standard web server logs may record your IP address and browser user-agent as part of normal web infrastructure operation. We do not use cookies for tracking. We do not run third-party analytics scripts.
3. How we use permissions
PageHawk requests the following Chrome permissions. Here is exactly why each is needed:
- activeTab — Required to read the DOM of the tab you are actively viewing when you click the PageHawk icon. We never access tabs in the background.
- scripting — Required to inject the content script that reads the page's SEO signals (title, meta tags, headings, links, etc.) on demand.
- storage — Required to save your settings and cache analysis results locally.
- declarativeNetRequest — Used solely for the optional User-Agent Switcher feature, if enabled.
4. Data sharing
We do not share data with third parties because we do not collect data in the first place. No data is sold, rented, or disclosed to any external party, ever.
5. Children's privacy
PageHawk is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
6. Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users via the Chrome Web Store listing. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
